v4.38.0 — Who can take on more? The workload heat map
Stop guessing who’s overloaded. The new workload balancing section shows a heat map by person and week: how many hours of estimated work each person has against their capacity, across all projects. Green = has room, blue = balanced, amber = at the limit, red = overloaded. One click on any cell opens the detail: exactly which tasks take up that week and how many hours each one contributes.
The workload is calculated automatically. Each task spreads its estimated hours between its start and end dates, respecting each person’s working days — and administrators can adjust individual capacity (does someone work 30 hours? Tuesday through Saturday?) in the capacity editor. Archived or closed projects don’t count as workload, and you can look 4, 8 or 12 weeks ahead.
A tip to make the most of it: accuracy depends on tasks having estimated hours and dates — the map is the best incentive to enter them.
And under the hood: this release fixes a silent problem in the update mechanism (database migrations were re-run on every startup without being recorded); no visible effect, but important for the stability of future upgrades.
